Historiadialogit -tapahtumasarja keväällä 2022 starttaa 9.3, aiheena romanien kansalaisoikeuskamppailut

Historiadialogien sarja

Depolarize.fi -toiminta pureutuu vuonna 2022 siihen, mitä voisimme oppia historioista, kun teemme tänä päivänä työtä tasavertaisen yhteiskunnan puolesta. Järjestämme sarjan dialogisia tapahtumia, joissa käydään läpi eri kansalaisoikeuskamppailujen historioita. 

Mitä tapahtui silloin, kun saatiin aikaan muutoksia parempaan ? Millaisia kamppailuja ja vastarinnan muotoja eri ryhmät ja diasporayhteisöt ovat käyneet ja käyttäneet saadakseen tunnustusta oikeuksilleen, parantaakseen elinolojaan ja hyvinvointiaan ja säilyttääkseen omaleimaisuutensa?

Toivotamme tervetulleeksi kaikki aiheista ja yhdessä oppimisesta kiinnostuneet! Ajatuksena on kohdata uusia ihmisiä ja historioita, vaihtaa ajatuksia ja juhlia sitä, että voidaan olla yhdessä! 

Tapahtumasarjan järjestävät Giovanna Esposito Yussif & Miriam Attias ja se tehdään yhteistyössä Museum of Impossible Formsin kanssa Koneen säätiön tuella. Seuraavat tapahtumat ovat ke 30.3, ke 20.4, ke 11.5, ke 1.6, ja ke 15.6. Save the dates !   

Osa 1: romanien kansalaisoikeuskamppailut ja kuinka muutokset parempaan saatiin aikaan

Lämpimästi tervetuloa osallistumaan historian käännekohdat-dialogisarjan avausiltaan, jonka aiheena on romanien kansalaisoikeuskamppailujen historia Suomessa.

Ilta käynnistyy Risto Blomsterin, Marko Stenroosin ja Miritza Lundbergin puheenvuoroilla ja dialogilla, jonka jälkeen on mahdollisuus yleisökeskusteluun. Tilaisuudessa tarjoillaan naposteltavia. Lämpimästi tervetuloa! Lähetämme tätä kutsua omille verkostoillemme, ja kannustamme lämpimästi tuomaan mukana yhteistyökumppaneita, joiden arvelet kiinnostuvan tästä aiheesta. Illan puhujista:

Miritza Lundberg on helsinkiläinen viulisti ja laulaja. Klassisten soolokonserttien lisäksi hän esiintyy romanimusiikkiin keskittyvän kokoonpanon kanssa Suomessa ja ulkomailla. Tällä hetkellä Miritza Lundberg valmistelee taiteellista tohtorintutkintoaan aiheena romanimusiikin eri ilmenemismuodot länsimaisen taidemusiikin kentällä.

Risto Blomster on etnomusikologi, joka työskentelee Suomalaisen Kirjallisuuden Seuran arkistossa. Blomster on kiinnostunut romanien kulttuuriperinnön arkistoinnin kysymyksistä. Nykyisessä tutkimushankkeessaan hän tutkii Suomen romanien musiikin ja kansalaisoikeusliikkeen kytköksiä ennen toista maailmansotaa (Suomen kulttuurirahasto 2021 – 2022).

Marko Stenroos on sosiaali- ja kulttuuriantropologi, joka on tutkinut romanipoliittisten ohjelmien toimeenpanoa, siihen liittyviä valtarakenteita, toimijuuksien välisiä jänniteitä ja erilaisia tapoja hahmottaa maailmaa. Stenroosin väitöskirja pohjautuu kenttämateriaaliin, jonka hän keräsi työskennellessään kaksi ja puoli vuotta romaneille suunnatussa EU-projektissa.

History dialogues  

In 2022, depolarize.fi will explore what we can learn from history as we work for equity in society today. We will organise a series of dialogues that will explore the histories of different civil rights struggles. 

What happened when changes for the better were made? What struggles and forms of resistance have different groups and diaspora communities undertaken to gain recognition for their rights, to improve their living conditions and well-being, and to preserve their distinctiveness?

We welcome all those interested  in these issues and in learning together! The idea is to gather, to encounter new histories and peoples, to exchange ideas and to celebrate being together in difference!

Part 1: Roma civil rights struggles: how were made the changes for better 

Time: Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Venue: Museum of Impossible Forms, Kontula Shopping Center

We warmly welcome you to take part in the opening night of the histories dialogue series, the topic of which is the history of the Roma civil rights struggles in Finland.

The evening will start with speeches and dialogue by Risto Blomster, Marko Stenroos and Miritza Lundberg, followed by an opportunity for public discussion. We will offer some snacks. Warm welcome! The numbers of places is limited. The presentations of the event will be videotaped. The event will take place in Finnish, but we will find a solution to translate if needed.

About the speakers of the evening:

Miritza Lundberg is a Helsinki based violinist and singer. In addition to classical solo concerts, she performs with an ensemble focusing on Roma music in Finland and abroad. Miritza Lundberg is currently preparing her doctoral dissertation on various forms of Romani music in the field of Western art music.

Risto Blomster is an ethnomusicologist who works in the archive of Finnish Literature. Blomster is interested in the issues of archiving Roma cultural heritage. In his current research project, he studies the connections between Finnish music and the civil rights movement in Finland before the Second World War (Finnish Cultural Foundation 2021 – 2022).

Marko Stenroos is a social and cultural anthropologist. He studied the implementation of Roma political programs, the related power structures, and the tensions of the different agencies relted, and different ways of perceiving the world. Stenroos’s dissertation is based on field material he collected while working on an EU project for Roma for two and a half years.
